“The recreational and tourism industry is a main contributor to Oregon’s economy, especially in House District 52. Supporting the businesses that provide these services and growing additional opportunities is an important step to ensuring communities in my district remain economically strong,” said Representative Mark Johnson. “It is also important to recognize that as we develop this industry, local citizens have a voice so their quality of life is not negatively impacted. I plan on bringing that strong voice while also supporting policies to grow this important industry.”

“Outdoor recreation is a vital component of the state’s $10.8 billion travel and tourism industry,” said Todd Davidson, CEO of Travel Oregon. “We’ve pulled together the leaders in this industry to help further enhance the economic impact outdoor recreation brings to communities throughout the state. Representative Johnson’s expertise on this topic makes him a valued member of this group and we look forward to his input on this important topic.”

Representative Johnson recently acted as co-convener of the Columbia River Highway Oregon Solutions Project to developed practical solutions for ongoing safety and congestion issues in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
